About Us

While there are more than two dozen choruses in the Atlantic-Bay-Mountain Region of Sweet Adelines International, the Harbor City Music Company strives to set itself apart through its attention to musicality, creativity, and artistry. The chorus has a history of unique and compelling performance packages endearing it to audiences lucky enough to catch a performance.

There is a committee of particularly crazy people in the chorus responsible for dreaming up these unique entertainment pieces, though it takes the work of every member of the chorus to bring each of them to stage. HCMC couldn't do it without tapping into our director, Michael Gellert's, arranging talent. When last asked, he calculates that he has arranged nearly 30 different songs for the chorus, and is always considering new melodies to add to the repertoire.

The HCMC inventive spirit was most recently displayed in the form of a tribute to Lucille Ball. How better to recognize such a significant talent in entertainment than to reenact, in song, the attendance of the "Lucy Convention", the gala "Lucille Ball" where the crowning of this year's "Miss Ideal Lucille" takes place? With the entire chorus in blue and white polka dot dresses, red wigs and pearls, HCMC sang it's appreciation of that exceptional comic talent.

The company previously has charmed audiences as a chorus full of cats. HCMC had the privilege of sharing this package on the Sweet Adelines International Stage. Our friends and family were challenged to recognize our individual faces once the makeup was applied and the hair properly teased, as we crept, clawed, jitterbugged, and drummed our way across the stage. The HCMC music and artistic teams endeavor constantly to find new and exciting ways to entertain our audiences and educate our members.
